I want you to know I cried through this one. But I'm a weeper anyway. Whenever I read about Harry being abused, I'd cry. And then Hedwig and Archie's baby... *SOB*
It's good writing that can make me cry.

::passes the tissues:: Yeah, I cried while writing it. Thanks for writing!

This was so sweet. Poor Hedwig! Lovely little addition though.

This was a very intersting story. I really enjoyed the different perspective of hearing about Harry from Hedwig's pointof view. It was creative and well written! All in all, an excellent ficlet to fit in with the Harry Potter universe you've created for us! Thank you!
Abraxan replied:
Thanks a lot! It was fun writing from some outside POV and seeing how someone who loves Harry sees him.

You know, Hedwig sounds a lot like my granny.
Apart from forrible flashbacks due to that, a great piece, great gravitas and great power in the writing. Thanks.

Abraxan, feeling rather grand after this review! Who knew I had "gravitas" and "powerful writing"?? COOL!

That was so sweet! I almost cried when the owlet died though, and I guess my parents have a good reason to call me sentametal.
Abraxan replied:
There's nothing wrong with crying in places that justify it, and that scene justified crying. :) I'm glad you enjoyed my story! Thanks for writing!

love Hedwig and Archibald. They're so cute together. I can't believe those quads. I quite agreed with Hedwig on his treatment. He got off lightly, the bastard.
Thanks for writing,
Kin.

Awww...nice story!
I like Hedwig, and stories where she gets a good role are rare. It's good to hear her POV.
I'd have probably wanted to wring the little Weasley brat's neck, myself.

AWWW! That was so sweet! And I would dearly love to take more serious action against that murdering quad!
Abraxan replied:
Now, Minerva, he was a kid who made a thoughtless, impulsive mistake, which kids often do. :) Harry's made sure he's punished. Doing any more wouldn't be right. Glad you enjoyed the story!

This is really quite good. You wrote Hedwig beautifully and I can easily see Harry in your interpretation, both cemented this as among some of my favorite vignettes.
By the way the way, I'd like to point you to Pride-Fall and Geno Calamari of Fanfiction.net fame. Both are very skill at this type of character vignette and might be worth a read, if only to see what I'm stacking you against. ^_^

kill the brat. kill that f'ing brat. main the idiotic brat that has kill an innocent life. hell and damnation to that child whom was spawned by the weasleys...evil, evil child...
Abraxan replied:
Tim didn't mean to injure the owl. It was an accident. Harry very wisely fit the punishment to the crime and gave him a stern enough warning about being banned from family gatherings at the Potters that Tim will tread very lightly from now on. And his father boxed his ears repeatedly during the funeral. These are young boys, elementary school age (pre-Hogwarts by a couple of years), so they often act before thinking. In the interest of maintaining family harmony, and in the interest of fairness, Harry, who was treated so unfairly so often as a child, did the right thing.

A story from an Owls perspective! Interesting, erm very interesting. Not quite sure what to make of this really. Its excellently written like all the rest of the story arc. (including Refiners Fire ToD etc).
I liked the way Hedwig sort of held a grudge against the "Monster" that killed there Owlet. Especially when she "warmed to the monsters father for" this is paraphrasing and I think you said "boxing is ears". Like the idea that Hedwig named her mate, despite the fact that she allowed Harry to name her.
Thought it was good, if a little odd considering how much the owl obviously cares for Harry, that there was no jealousy of Merlin for taking over the role of Harry's familiar!

Abraxan replied:
Glad you liked it! Any jealousy Hedwig might have had is long gone - Harry made sure he spent time with her, and she was carrying mail for Ginny once Merlin started doing that for Harry, so it wasn't that much of a problem. And this was written when Harry's in his 30's, so any jealousy she may have felt disappeared a long time ago. Glad you liked Hedwig's response to the "monster's father" when he was boxing his son's ears. :-) Thanks for writing.

cute if a tiny bit sad
Abraxan replied:
Well, the story had to reflect real life (to satisfy me as a writer/reader), and at least occasional sadness is a part of real life. Glad you liked it. Thanks for writing!

This is a lovely story. It's nice to see how Hedwig views her world and how she sees Harry's life so far.
Sad in places though, but that's to be expected. I think I'll have to juggle my "Top 10 short stories/drabbles list" to fit this story onto the list...Then again I probably save myself all that grief and expand the list to the top 15 or 20. LOL
Cheers
Abraxan replied:
LOL! Thanks for including my fic in your list! Glad you enjoyed it!

lovely story, and not nearly as heart rending as "Hedwig's Wizard Chick". That one made my Mum cry. Your story is about Harry already come into his own, with a wife and children to love and protect, along with the worlds favoite family of owls.
Thanks again for a super story

Very touching.
And beautiful in its own way. Anectodal (sp?) stories don't usually float my boat, but this one had enough flair to feel just right. What I mean to say is that Hedwig doesn't strike me as the usual flighty bird. I was glad to see you captured that.
Very good work.
