I think I've figured out one of the many reasons your fanfiction is so much better than most others. Your OCs. They're all well-developed and realistic people. Usually I'm not a fan of OCs, but I'd read a story about Joyero or Dervish or the Ashers. In fact, I intend to read your original work as soon as I can find a copy of it.

What a nice thing to say!   I enjoyed creating my OCs - I'm glad you like them so well!

Good chapter, I am glad to see what Ron thinks of self defense.

I really gets me upset to hear what many say about using deadly force to protect yourself and or others. I am a Certified NRA Pistol Instructor and teach and certify people to carry concealed weapons in the state of Missouri. Which gives them the right to carry a concealed weapon in several states. I am a Vietnam vet and I carry a .45ACP or a .44SPL handgun whenever I can do it within the law. I have been shot at several times and hit once. Some of those that shot at me are not around any more. Nuff said.

Yup, we shoot too (and belong to the NRA).   So I believe in self-defense and my characters reflect that.   Thank you for your service to our country.

I've lost count how many times I've read and reread this and refiners fire(i think its the fifth time). It's one of my all time favorite stories. Thanks for creating it. This time around though, when read this chapter over, I thought of a question. Why didn't Harry transform in to a phoenix and flame them to Hogwarts? Especially since he knew that Malfoy and his goons followed him today?

Abraxan replied:

Harry isn't perfect.   He doesnt' always think of the best thing to do.   It's that simple.   I deliberately ALLOWED him to make mistakes because one thing I don't like in stories is "perfect" heroes!   They're much  more interesting if they're flawed somehow or make mistakes and  then have to pay the consequences, just like the rest of us!   :)

I'm glad you're enjoying Refiners - I hope you're also reading "Now and Forever" which is the new novel I've been uploading for a while now, a chapter a week, just like RF and ToD.   And I do have an original novel available on Amazon - "Star Sons - Dawn of the Two" - just go to Amazon and search for "Lynda Sappington" (that's me!) and you'll find it.   Harry Potter readers should  enjoy it, I think.   It's a fantasy with  teenaged boys as the heroes.

Thanks for writing!

i'm on my third read of this fic and i'm always glad when Mr. Joyero makes his appearance.

Abraxan replied:

Thank you for the "third read"!   And I'm so glad you enjoy Mr. Joyero!   I'm debating creating a character like him in my original novels - he's so popular, if my heroes in the original novels need a LOT of jewelry like Harry and Ron seem to, I just might create such a character.   :)   Thanks for writing!

Can we kill the Slytherins NOW? Please??? Interesting, the books on dark magic...I wonder which of Harry's powers in Time are from those books... I liked how Tom Riddle was scribbled out and Lord Voldemort written really big. That's such a Voldemort thing to do. He's like a petulant child sometimes about his childhood

Looks like if it wasn't for bad luck, Harry wouldn't have any luck at all. Either that, or the bad luck comes so often that the seldom good luck he does have, gets easily forgotten.
