What's next? And I do hope you will answer, "filling in all those gaps I left through Now and Forever." *hint hint* J/K I loved it all! I can't wait to finish NaF and to see what comes next!

Abraxan replied:

Filling in all those gaps I left via Now and Forever and the various ficlets on this site!   LOL!   Glad you're enjoying my writing!

I wanted to write and tell you what a wonderful story this was and how much I enjoyed reading it!! Your attention to detail is amazing and you have a true gift for storytelling. I look forward to reading your other Harry Potter fan fictions and I want to thank you for sharing your gift with the world. Also, I am curious where you got the idea for the character Alex McCullough's name. That is my mother's maiden name and I just wondered if you knew any McCulloughs or if it's just a coincidence.

Abraxan replied:

Thanks a lot!   Yeah, the details were fun to write - I wanted the story as rich and layered as I could get it.   As for Alex's last name, hmm.   It's been a long time since I wrote Destiny and   a lot of words have come out of my head and into the computer (I have written two original novels since then, the first of which is now available on Amazon.com for pre-release ordering - just do a search for "Lynda Sappington" and then click on "Star Sons - Dawn of the Two" and you're there!).   Anyway, I THINK I was looking for a Scottish-sounding name and just dug through my character-naming book ("Character Naming Sourcebook") until I found one I liked.   I have several name "resources" but that book is the best one - it's divided by nationality/culture and includes both first and last names as well as meanings. so it's very useful.   So I guess it's just a coincidence that I used the name.

Thanks for writing!   Be sure to look for Star Sons on Amazon.com!   And you can read a sample chapter of it on www.whimsyhill.com - and  the sample chapter will soon be on Amazon as well.

Hey Brilliant story and excellent writing!! I would give you a full score except there is one thing that i must point out! Harry changed into a stag that night to save Remaus than it has not been mentioned at all after that why? I wanted to see Remaus reaction when Harry transformed into a stag like his DAD

Abraxan replied:

It's been at least two years and a LOT of words since I finished Destiny.   Since then, I've written two original novels and a bunch of ficlets that fit into the time gap between Destiny and the epilogue, so I have no idea what I was thinking about when I used the stag.   If he didn't change again, then I saw  no need for it, that's all.   Glad you enjoyed the stories.

An excellent series that has given me a great deal of enjoyment.

I particularly wish to thank you for giving Severus Snape a second chance at life and recognition for his service to the Light. Many authors not focusing their fanfic on him do him the same disservice that JKR did, seeming to judge that all his years of penance for his youthful sins weren't worth rewarding.

I fully enjoyed your sense of humor as well and the wonderful way you used it to give the reader relief in the most dire situations. There are too many instances of it to enumerate but, IMO, Draco Malfoy's continued ineptitude with so many high level spells was one of the most enjoyable - as was his mode of demise.

Again, thank you for creating such quality fanfics.

Abraxan replied:

Wow, what a fabulous review!   THANKS!

Re: Snape.   I honestly thought he was a loose end that needed to be dealt with, because of the complexity of his character.   I couldn't just "leave" him.   I'm nearly finished with the first draft of a new HP chaptered story, "Now and Forever" where you'll see how Snape is doing after Harry removes his Dark Mark.   "Now and Forever" tells how Harry copes with the aftermath of war, his first year in Auror School and playing for the Lions, as well as his and Ginny's wedding.   I hope to start uploading it in a month or so.   With each chapter upload, you'll get ordering information for "Star Sons:   Dawn of the Two," my original fantasy novel that will be published soon.   Those of my HP readers who've read "Star Sons" have enjoyed it a great deal, so hopefully   my other HP readers will like it as well!

Thank you again for such a wonderful review!   Be sure to read my ficlets, which all fit into the gap in time between the end of Destiny and the beginning of the epilogue (which is also true of "Now and Forever").   Thanks for writing!

wow! that was a week well spent reading your stories (really wants to call them novels) I plan to now read the various other Harry/Ginny stories that go beyond this, you are a fantastic writer, and I really want to read the origonal novels you mentioned in reply to my earlier review, are they published anywhere?

Abraxan replied:

Well, I CALL them "stories" but they really are novels, so you're not wrong!   I'm so glad you enjoyed them!

My first original novel "Dawn of the Two" will be published soon (in August, I think!).   I'll post ordering info on all the sites hosting my stories when it's available.   It will be available on Amazon.com.   I'll make autographed book plates available to my HP fanfic readers on my publishing website, www.whspubs.com, which is still under construction at the moment.

Thanks for writing!

Two truly enjoyable novels. The two things that stood out the most to me were the Harry/Casey relationship which just felt quite nice and the situation with the Dursleys which was the best I have ever seen it done, to many have a long chewing out/ hexing scene and then the Dursleys are gone, it's nice to see it a bit differently.

Abraxan replied:

Thank you very much!   I'm so glad you liked those aspects of my stories!   I had a lot of fun writing the stories, and those things in particular were a lot of fun to explore.

Casey's had such a strong reaction among my readers that I've "resurrected" her in my original novel "Star Sons: Dawn of the Two" which will be published hopefully by the end of summer.   Keep me on your favorites list and watch my news page for the pubication announcement!   And thanks for writing!

the stories were absolutely fantastic, thank you for what was obviously a labor of love. I find that you remained extremely faithful to Jo's characters which is not all that common in Fanfic. All in all both books were an excellent read, and a great distraction until we get the real deal in June.

Abraxan replied:

You're right, they were a labor of love!   Thank you so much for your kind words!   I was trying to stay true to JKR's vision, developing the characters and story the way I thought she might.   I was delighted to see, in HBP, how many things I'd guessed right!   :D   Thanks for your lovely review!

I really liked this fic. It was great! Although I did feel that there was a way too big pileup of injuries in the end and everyone was too dependent on spells and potions when they were feeling down...

I'm heading over to ff.net to add them to my c2!

Exactly one year ago, I stumbled onto your fanfiction and read it all the way through (until I was forced to stop because of it being, at the time, unfinished) and watched every week for the next chapter. When I was notified of your latest fic, written from Hedwig's perspective, I read that, and decided I'd come back and read the entire story again. Wonderful writing, and an inspiration as always.

Wow, thanks a lot!   That's a lot of reading!!   Glad you enjoyed it!   Happy New Year!

I really enjoyed this story. The one thing that I would change is killing Draco off earlier. After 1 escape I really can't see any of them having faith in Azkaban holding DEs. Once the prison became a hotel for the dark side, trips thru the veil or to a different holding facility should have been institued.

Thank you for writing and I look forward to reading your other works.

Best Story I have read. Competes with Rowling!

Thank you very much!   I really appreciate that!   Do look for the ficlets I've written since I finished Destiny.   There are several, all of which fit into the epilogue of Destiny.   "A Fox's Tale," "Beginnings," "A Very Harry Christmas" and "On Second Thoughts" are all on this site.   Watch for a new one to be uploaded by Christmas (I hope!!!).   Thanks for writing!

I always followed these stories in your yahoo group a long time ago, but i never read the epilouge. I finally got a chance to read it and it was great

Abraxan replied:

Thanks a lot!   Glad you liked it!   Be sure to read the ficlets I've written that fit into the epilogue:   "A Fox's Tale," "Beginnings," "A Very Harry Christmas" and "On Second Thoughts."   I have another one nearly finished.   I hope to have it online by early December (I'm tied up in the National Novel Writing Month right now and racing to finish writing 50,000 words by the end of the month with not only a 10 day business trip interrupting my work - I'm just home from that - but also a 5 day Thanksgiving trip.   So I'm 15 days short of a 30 day month - that means I'm writing 50,000 words in essentially two weeks!   ACK!!!!!!)

Abraxan, who must be insane, but is about halfway through with her 50,000 words in spite of everything!

OKAY I read both of your stories and I have to say THIS BLOWS HPB OUT OF THE WATER

Not only are your characters beliveable but real

Seriously you should think about writing your own books(if you aren't already) and if i missed where it said you were SORRY!!!

But thank you for the lovly story. It usually takes me a day and a half to read one story. It took me 4 days to read both. Keep up the good work I'll keep an eye on you for future storys!

Abraxan replied:

Thank you so much!   I really appreciate your kind words!   And yes, I'm writing my own novels now.   I've completed "Star Sons" and am nearing the halfway mark in it's sequel (still unnamed).   I think these books are part of at least a trilogy, possibly a series.   I love the characters and the world I've created and can't wait to see where they take me.

Stay tuned to this site - keep me on your favorite authors list.   I'll post ordering info for my novels when (not *if* - thinking positively here!) it's available!

I just got done reading through both stories for the second time. They're just as good the second time through! Some books are keepers--yours are. Thank you for taking the time to write them for our enjoyment.

Abraxan replied:

What a nice thing to say (that my books are keepers)!   Thank you so much!   I'm glad you enjoyed them!   Stay tuned for a new ficlet to show up here in the next few weeks!   There are four ficlets on here so far - they all fit into the epilog of Destiny.   Be sure to look for them, too!

Thanks for writing!

Great pieces of fanfiction these are! I remember reading the original seven chapters when "The Refiner's Fire" had just started out, and then lost track of it!

It took me FOUR DAYS to read the "Refiner's Fire" and "Time of Destiny", but it was well worth it. And that was reading most of the day!

There are a few plot questions I had that I figured could wait until the story was over, if you don't mind.

Whenever Peter Pettigrew's Animagus form is mentioned, people would say, "look for the missing toe" or something. But, in the fourth book, he cut off that hand, I believe, to go into the potion for "Flesh Blood and Bone", so shouldn't it have been, "Silver Paw?"

:D

Also, I liked Casey, and was wondering if you felt it difficult to kill her off, because it seemed the relationship was... large, deep, reserved.

I know that when I killed off an origional character, I found it difficult to form a new relationship, even though it was a plot point.

Thank you for the wonderful pieces of fic,

Yours,

William

Abraxan replied:

Thank you so much!   Glad you found my stories again!

I finished writing RF over a year ago and haven't read it in a long time, so I don't remember whether I wrote "silver hand" or "silver paw."   If he was in Animagus form, it should've been silver paw.   If he was in human form, it should've been silver hand.   If I messed up, oh well!!   Five or six betas (depending on which section this was) and I poring over the stories to get them perfect still made mistakes.   I know of three or four real mistakes (such as JKR having Lily and James come out of Voldie's wand in the wrong order in GoF).   If JKR can get away with mistakes, I figure that I, without a paid editor working on my story, can get away with a mistake here and there too!   We did the best we could!

I'm glad you liked Casey.   Nah, I had no problem killing her off.   I had planned to kill her from the beginning.   What I had trouble with was dealing with poor Harry's grief.   THAT was difficult.   But I knew that she was gone but not forgotten, even though he put his memories of her in the Pensieve to deal with little by little when he was stronger.   *I* knew she'd play a part in the end of "Destiny" but Harry didn't, so he was tortured beyond belief by her death - and blamed himself for it, which made it worse.

Casey is so popular with readers that I've resurrected her for my original novels.   She's one of the main characters in "Star Sons," although she's magical this time and has some other differences (strawberry blond now rather than honey blond - there were too many blonds in Star Sons for a while!   Hazel eyes instead of blue - same reason.   Changed her last name and her parents names, no sister, and they're Brits, not American.   She also has some of Ginny's feistier characteristics - but in essence, that sweetness she has that everyone loves so much, that's there.   Her name's Casey Sutton this time.)

I'm glad you enjoyed my stories!   Be sure to read the ficlets that go with them, and watch for more to come!   I have a ficlet in process right now, and am polishing my original novel and starting the second one in that series - I'll be sending the first one out to publishers as soon as it's as good as I can make it!   Be sure to keep me on your Fav. Authors list so you'll get notices when my novels are published!

Thanks for writing!
