Very good story, liked it a lot:) You are a very good writer.... All tough I don't realy like this much kissing and that kind of stuff it goes well in your story.... Can't wait to get started on the sequel:) Your story goes into my top 5 list of Harry Potter fanfics, and i've read a lot.... Hope you continue to write storys like this:p

Abraxan replied:

Thanks a lot!   I'm glad you enjoyed it.   Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione all enjoyed the kissing scenes, so what can I say?   I like to keep my characters happy!   LOL!   Thanks for writing!

I realy loved the fight, it was brilliant.... All tough death among students is normal in the Harry Potter world I find it hard to accept that Seamus is dead..... Good bloke that one;)

Abraxan replied:

Yeah, I hated to kill off Seamus, but someboyd fairly important to the readers had to die to make the whole thing realistic.   So Seamus was it.   Glad you liked the chapter!

Hmmm, harry was born in 81, when he left the muggle world he was 11, that would be 92.... And if he by some sort of reason would have heard abouth it on TV in the summers it still only is 97..... And computer viruses wasn't that big a deal back then:) Love your story:)

Abraxan replied:

I've been working on computers since the mid-1980's, and yes, we did have to worry about viruses once the internet became the least big popular.   Dudley's had computers all along (in JKR's books) so I'm not out of line having Harry have a clue about viruses.   Glad you like the story.

Just wanted to let you know that I've liked your story so far... You are a good writer, maybe not the most original story, but it's good.... I will continue to read:)

Vidar

Abraxan replied:

There's no such thing as an "original" story - there are only twelve basic plots for stories, and Shakespeare wrote them all.   And fantasies all fall into about five categories.   Harry's story is a "hero quest" type of story (as defined by Joseph Campbell years ago) and follows that type of format.   And I don't know why I'm bothering to explain this to you.     I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.

I just read this and must say WOW!!!!! I am sorry that the Asher's had to die I liked them alot,

Abraxan replied:

Thanks a lot!   I liked the Ashers too.   Read "The Time of Destiny" which is Refiner's sequel, and you'll see that they are gone but not forgotten.   And Casey is a character in the original novel I'm working on now, too.   She was so popular, I decided she deserved to be in a story where she could live instead of being killed off!   Thanks for writing!

I nearly send you a howler when Casey passed. Nearly. *marie jumping on abraxan and tickling her* Well that's done. Hope you're really ticklish.

You never stop... Casey died, Harry is depressed, nearly killed everyone, then the Refiner's Fire, then Hogwarts, then 'the accident' of Ginny, then the poisonning. Fiouf. That's not quite a boring life isn't it. Oh and I forgot the fangirls spyong on him every second of every day...

The funeral where really great. I'm now restless, I need to read if he's gonna be happy once again. You are evil you know.

Well, I'm off to read...

Abraxan replied:

Yup, I'm really ticklish!   And nope, I never stop.   Poor Harry, I have SO much fun taking him from horrific experience to delicious joy and back again!   Good thing he's so resiliant!   Thanks for the fun review!

Rita Skeeter is a b****... Hopefully Hermione will find something... ^^ Something nasty can be really grand ^^ *show of teeth*

At first I was not that interested in reading your stuff because I've began to read ToD and I didn't understand a lot. There is no real summary of the people at the beginning and i was truly lost. But I've got some kicking in the side done and here I am, and I'm enjoying myself a great deal.

Your stuff is really great, the first chapters (since I'm at the seventh) are really holding the attention. And i suppose that you're Betas are doing a great job too. (Never forget to thanks them, they are always the best ^^)

Casey is not a Mary Sue, she really have some personnality. She exists. Nearly real.

So I'm gonna read the rest of the story now. ^^

Marie

Abraxan replied:

Well, yeah, you WOULD be confused if you started with the sequel instead of the first story!   Lots of people have done that - I dont' know why!   I thought I had labeled ToD clearly with a "You should read 'The Refiner's Fire' first!" kind of message.   I'm glad you're enjoying the story, and thanks so much for your kind words about Casey!   Yup, I work hard to make my characters real.   I'm glad she comes across that way to you!   Thanks for writing!

And what have I been trying to get through to you readers, LOL???   Harry and Ginny = Good, Harry and anyone else = Bad!!   LOL!   JKR has been preparing Ginny and Harry for each other all along, through all the books.   She's never given any indication that Hermione thought of Harry as anything but a brother or best friend.   I may disagree with Hermione's taste in men, but hey, at least Hermione and Ginny won't be fighting over Harry!   LOL!     I was just going along with what JKR began, which is how both of my stories evolved.

Abraxan, who hopes you're over your fit now!   LOL!

very well written tis hard to finda well written one that has more than 2 chapters i have been reading for over 2 hours and will continue late into the night omg my eyes hurt.
well done!!!!!!!

Abraxan replied:

Thanks a lot! You have a LOT of reading to do to finish my fics!! Sorry it's not a H/Hr, but I just don't see that happening in canon, and that's the basis of my fics, the canon characters and the "indications" JKR has given of what might happen in the future. Both of my fics were finished (Destiny was almost complete) before HBP came out, so you may be surprised at how well I guessed at what JKR was going to do with some things! LOL! I sure was! I hope you enjoy the rest of the fics - thanks for the review!

Abraxan replied:

ROTFL! You can't imagine how many reviews I've gotten with folks yelling at me for killing off poor Casey. She's gone but not forgotten - keep reading (all the way through "The Time of Destiny," Refiner's sequel) and you'll see what I mean. And I'm using Casey as a character in the original novel I'm working on now, simply because she was so popular with readers. Thanks for writing!

So I was sitting around, bored out of my mind, when I decided to reread my favorite sections of The Refiners Fire and Time of Desinty and leave lots of nice reviews :) It's too early to go to bed, seeing as an early bed time would ruin the good mood I've got going on with Spring Break starting tomorrow and a good poli sci test today (and yes, this is Jax from the chat last night.)

Just as good the second time around :) Absolutely wonderful. I have to mention how much I loved Harry's speech to the bureaucrats :-P I love speeches like that, and I wish I could write them.

Abraxan replied:

THanks a lot! Yeah, I wish I could speak that eloquently - it shocks me when I can WRITE that eloquently, but then again, it's Harry's voice speaking, not mine. Glad you liked it! Thanks for the review!!

I'm a 33 year old man, and I cried for an hour after Casey's funeral. You're an excellent author and I can't wait for more of your work. Just so you know, I have my own AU version of this story in my head, involving a time turner, clones, and memory modification, just so that somewhere in the multiverse Casey is alive and well and living in Arizona.

Abraxan replied:

Oh, that's funny (your AU) because part of the original novel I'm now working on involves Arizona, and Casey is in the novel as well! LOL! She's gone but not forgotten in my HP fics, too, don't worry. No time-turner, clones or memory modification involved. I'd say I was sorry I made you cry, but honestly, I'm glad you were so moved by the story. Thanks so much for writing!

I just finished the story, I've been reading it all week! Its was great! It was a bit odd in spots, can't say exactly where, and choppy in the beginning but your writing definitely improved as the story went along. I also like your authors's notes and the information you passed on there. I'm looking forward to reading the next part. Great job!

Mari

Abraxan replied:

If it was a bit choppy in the beginning, that was because I was re-learning how to write fiction after fifteen years of not writing any fiction at all. Glad you enjoyed it!

Oooooooo if that happens in real life to actors, I feel really sorry for them. I thought it was kinda funny at first, then not when it was plain they started harassing him. Great job conveying that and great story BTW!

Abraxan replied:

Yes, it does happen to actors in real life. Dan Radcliffe actually enjoys meeting fans because they treat him nicely, but there are professional autograph hunters who hound him, follow his car, pound on it, that annoy him. He's said he doesn't give them autographs (so beware of anything supposedly autographed by him that you see for sale on ebay!!) I know an American movie actor who has had such incidents and worse happen to him. Some people treat celebrities as if they're objects rather than people. That's what's happening to Harry here. Glad you're enjoying the story!

Abraxan - and no, I won't say who my movie actor friend is! He's a friend in part because I protect his privacy!

I just finished Refiner's Fire after reading it just about every spare moment I had (which unfortunately isn't much) over the last couple days. I very much enjoyed it. I loved Casey and thought she was a great addition to the story, and was very sorry to see her go. I understand why, as much as I hate it thought. In my opinion, Harry and Ginny are made for each other, but Harry wasn't ready for her as he was. Casey went a long way to helping Harry mature. The refiner's fire was a great idea; I've always thought Harry deserved to have great power, and now he does.

You had a great balance of fluff, action, and intrigue. I especially enjoyed the various battles. They were beautifully described and read perfectly. The fluff and romance scenes were just as well done. They weren't too sappy, and I enjoyed them immensly.

Anyway, great job, and I look forward to reading the sequal. I'll start it right now!

Regards, Jason.

Abraxan replied:

Wow, what a lovely review! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story! The "balance" is different in "Time of Destiny" since I do more character building there (I think that development is necessary for Harry and his friends to be able to face what they have to at the end). I hope you'll enjoy it as well as you did Refiner's!

And thanks for understanding about Casey! She's been VERY popular with readers, and I've had some who still haven't forgiven me for killing her off!! ;->

Thanks for a really nice review!
