i've already read this a few times but after re-reading it for about the fourth time i have to say that this chapter is one of the most moving pieces of fanfiction i have ever read. it's so beautiful and it reminds me a lot of deaths of my loved ones and had me very close to tears of numerous occasions. i love this story and its sequel too, so thank you for writing it. it's brilliant.
Abraxan replied:
Thanks so much! Yeah, it had me bawling when i was writing it, and has moved me every time I've read it since writing it. I'm glad you liked it!

So, does the Slytherin get into trouble for assault and attempted murder or is this just one of those "he was cursed back, so he has already been punished enough?"
Abraxan replied:
I have no idea. Remus took care of it "off-camera." Showing what happened to him wouldn't forward the plot, so I didn't bother to write it.

Oh damn, can't edit that previous review of mine, but I just remembered, native Romanians (limba română) spell their country's name as România. Rumania is not the correct spelling regardless what language it is used in.
Abraxan replied:
I don't know why my Brit-picker insisted on the spelling she did, but it's there and it stays. These stories were completed years ago and will not be changed. I'm writing other stuff now, both new HP stories (still set in this world, but with no trips to Europe) and original novels.

man i decided to re-read the story again, i can't believe i had forgotten Mr. Asher's first name.
Abraxan replied:
Is this Karina from my Yahoo group? Why are you reading this here instead of there? (just curious). Glad you're enjoying it! Yeah, I've forgotten some stuff about it too - I've had to re-read parts of this and ToD to work on the ficlet I'm currently writing, and I'm glad to see what fun reads they are! Thanks for writing!

Very predictable and too much about being famous.

Wow...that's brilliant ! Great writing all around. I love all the different twists and turns you gave us throughout the entire story. Awesome job, and please continue! Thanks so much for writing, and giving all your readers the entertainment and joy (as well as sorrow, suspence, anger, etc...) while reading. Congrats
Abraxan replied:
Thank you very much! You can continue reading Harry's story in my world by reading "The Time of Destiny" which is the sequel to "Refiner's Fire." There are also several ficlets on this site that fit into the epilog of "Destiny" so you have a lot of good reading ahead of you! Enjoy!

Loved the Chiropractic adjustment :) It feels like magic sometimes after an adjustment. Thank you for writing and I look forward to reading the sequel.
Abraxan replied:
LOL! You're the first person to comment on that, IIRC! Yes, I love my chriopractor - he keeps my carpal tunnel under control so I've managed to avoid the surgery for maybe 12 years now, bless him! Glad you enjoyed the story! Thanks for writing!

One of my big problems with the story as a whole (haven't finnished it but so far at least) is that Casey played such an important part and now she is bearly mentioned. I figured she would play a bigger role, expecting something like malfoy's constant batting over causing Harry to really have to work to control his power. I also would have figured he would have a few more emotional breakdowns over it. Then you make a comment I think it was about his patronous about this being the happiest momment in his life besides when he found out he was a wizard.
So I guess all my gripes is the fact that Casey got written out of the story.
Abraxan replied:
Didn't you notice Casey was killed off in chapter 7, I think it was? So of course she doesn't appear in the rest of the novel. She does make a cameo appearance near the end of "The Time of Destiny," and fan protest over my killing her off (which was necessary for Harry's character development and to throw him into the Refiner's Fire) has led to me reviving her in my original novel, the "Star Sons" series. Casey in "Star Sons" isn't "exactly" the same person, but has most of the original Casey's qualities. Readers should like her as well as they liked this Casey.
I finished "Refiners" a long time ago now, have written many thousands of words since then and don't remember specifics about Refiner's anymore, so your question about the Patronus confuses me. Sorry I don't have a ready answer. Do read the rest of Refiner's and then Destiny and the ficlets that fit into the epilogue of Destiny. It's a good story overall even without Casey involved (but she does play a role near the end of Destiny).

Good God. You do know that this means England are all fans of Ian Thorpe the swimmer, don't you. Excellently written, and I love this story.
Abraxan replied:
Okay, I'm an American and have only spent a couple of weeks in England (this past May) - I have no idea what you're talking about! Glad you're enjoying the story, but I'd LOVE an explanation of your review! LOL!

Great story! Poor Harry, could not make a trip without getting hurt or just simply having a good time. Love it that he can do much more complex spells and that he has a phoenix of his own. Harry and Ginny, do belong together, and it great that Dudley sees how pretty she is and that she is with Harry.
Keep on writing, can wait to start reading the sequel.

that was definately one of the top 5 fics i have ever read. I cant wait to read anything else you write (including your original peice if / when it comes out to australia). You are an excellent writer, keep it up!
Abraxan replied:
Thanks so much! Be sure to read "The Time of Destiny" and the ficlets I've written that fit into "Destiny's" epilogue: "A Fox's Tale," "On Second Thoughts" and "A very Harry Christmas," and. . .coming soon. . ."Beginnings" which fits in after "A Fox's Tale" and tells the story of the latter part of the summer and early fall after the trio leave Hogwarts. It should be online in a couple of weeks (waiting for the betas to finish their work on it.)
And when (not *if*! - thinking positively here!) my original novels (the first one's finished and being beta'd now, the second one is about 2/3 planned and I will start writing it soon - it's either a trilogy or a series, I'm not certain yet) are available, they'll also be available online - if Amazon doesn't carry them, I will do it myself! So you'll be able to get them in Australia!
Thanks for writing!

i have one question, when malfoy jr and his gang attack and you talk about taking points you mention 4 of them attacked 3 uf us, who is the 4th in malfoys group?
Abraxan replied:
Oh gee, it's been AGES since I wrote this story! A year and a half or so at least!! I don't remember. I think it was Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle and Nott as the usual foursome. Hope you're enjoying the story!

Harry’s reason for the wolf was so incredibly sweet. "Hold your Hippogriffs" was a great touch too. "Beaky’s goin’ ter be a daddy?" was so cute. Great chapter.

Poor Hermione. Poor Harry too, but less so. Love the way you twisted their relationships into a fantastic knot - I bet she means she loves Harry as a friend though. Great chapters.
Abraxan replied:
You'll just have to keep reading to find out what's really going on, LOL! Glad you're enjoying it!

Oh bloody hell. While the ruff comparison line made me giggle, I now can't go to bed until I've found out what's happened to Hermione.
Abraxan replied:
That's what I love to hear - that the reader can't wait to find out what happens next!
