see, this is what I wish the Deathly Hallows epilogue was like. a good end to two excellent stories :)

Overall I liked these stories and thought they were well written. There were some points, however, that I didn't care for.
Luna. This is the first Harry Potter fanfic that I've read that I could characterise as 'Luna bashing'. She comes across as a morbid, clueless escapee from the spell damage ward.
Trevor. That bizarre episode was more suited for an out-of-continuity omake than as part of the story. Apart from getting a free-pass on the illegal transformation of her husband nobody seemed to care a less that she'd killed his muggle mistress. We don't even know whether that woman even knew that he was married or not.

"Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle and some of their friends escaped from Azkaban recently."
They should just install a revolving door. Seriously, it's ridiculous - especially considering how easy it would be to make them useless to Voldemort.

alright i have to say it, this story was good but you killed it. having him in the hospital every chapter is redundent as hell and annoying to boot. Are you really that stuck on how to write a story you have to keep using the same arc? its stupid and i cant read anymore of this and thats really a shame. it was a good story until this chapter. Its become to repeating. having someone in the hospital works when theres a war. once that war is over, and you keep putting them in the hospital. you fuck up.

A plot hole I just saw, and yes, I know you're finished with this story, but... it's worth pointing out.
Peter Pettigrew is DEAD. Harry killed him at the battle in France to protect Remus.
Outside of this, love the story. Re-reading it, and only now noticed that snafoo.
Abraxan replied:
Yup, you're right. That was a continuity error that I and all of my betas just missed. That's one of about four real mistakes in the story. Glad you're enjoying my stories!

I've really enjoyed your stories. Your plot is interesting, and you have a good grasp of the characters, particularly Harry.
I do have one thing, though. So Hermione broke up with Ron. That doesn't make her a horrible person. People break up all the time. How was she supposed to do it? Breakups are hard, so it is understandable for Ron to be angry with her. Why would Harry and Ginny feel that way, though? Ginny broke up with Michael Corner. How is this any different?
Abraxan replied:
It's been literally years since I read this and more years since I wrote it, so I'm going by rusty memory. I think the main reason it was different was that they seemed to be so right for each other, something that was never true of Ginny and any of her boyfriends before Harry. All their friends recognized this in them (even in canon). I write my stories as true to real life as possible, and there are times when close friends get upset with their buddies when they break up a relationship that seemed to be really good for them. A lot of times in real life, such couples get back together and get married. I know two couples who DIVORCED and REMARRIED the person they'd divorced and lived happily ever after (or have for the last 30 years or so), so it does happen.

You know, this is about the third time i've read through this series and i have truly enjoyed them every time. They are well thought out and written so that everything is nicely wrapped up at the end. I think the only thing that "irked" me was the many uses of the phrase "drinking in her/his scent ". But, other than that - BRAVO!!
Abraxan replied:
Somebody totaled it up and in these two books I've written more than JKR did in all of hers put together! When you write that many words, you're gonna fall into some habits with phrases and will miss seeing them in editing. Sorry about that. Glad you enjoyed my stories! If you liked these, you might enjoy my original novel, "Star Sons: Dawn of the Two" which you can order on Amazon.com or BN.com or several other sites. Just do a search on my name, Lynda Sappington, and you'll find it.
Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Didn't HP kill PP in the battle in France? So why did MM say he's still alive?
Abraxan replied:
That was one of the four or five actual errors in the fic. I don't feel too bad about it - with professional editors, JKR had a lot of errors in her fics too ("ancestor" when she meant to say "descendent" for instance, and having James and Lily come out of Voldie's wand in reverse order). Well spotted! Yes, I did kill Pettigrew off earlier. I just forgot about it.

This really is a lovely story. I felt sure poor Harry would have plaques at St. Mungo's and in the Hospital Wing at Hogwarts before both stories were over :)
The land of the phoenixes was a lovely concept, and I liked how you handled the Snape-Harry interaction.
Harry constantly claiming he's fine is pretty funny too--it's such a typical Harry thing to do.
Also, and this is the sincerest compliment I can think of, I read this entire story in one sitting (excepting bathroom breaks), and I did the same with Refiner's Fire yesterday :)
Abraxan replied:
In ONE SITTING EACH????? I'll bet you had a numb bum after that, LOL! That IS a lovely compliment, that you read them nonstop!
Yeah, Harry always saying he's fine amuses me no end - and it is SO in character for him! Glad you liked that.
Glad you liked the Land of the Phoenixes, too. I liked the concept so well, I'm considering using it in my original novels.
Thanks for writing!

I'd never heard of snake-stones, but hey--ya learn something new every day.
Lead Lung Curse. Ew. Very imaginative as was Hermione's gills in the water tank thing.
Zabini got what Zabini deserved.
Rita's got some cahones, doesn't she? Oh well, she'll pay now. I hate that cow!
Abraxan replied:
Rita is GREAT fun to write because she's so deliciously evil! And yeah, she has brass cahones at the very least!! Glad you liked the Lead Lung Curse and Hermione's gill thing and that you thought Zabini got waht was coming to him!
Glad you found this site so you can read without problems! Thanks for writing!

Yikes! Can't that kid catch a break? Oh well--Zabini got his, didn't he? There can't be many Slytherins left, can there?
It seems to me that the people in Harry's life are going through a Refiner's Fire of their own with all of this stress and none of them going off the deep end.
Good job.
Abraxan replied:
I never really thought of it that way, but yeah, the people who love Harry are going through a Refiner's Fire of their own in a way. Thanks for giving me a new insight into my own story! Cool! Your reviews are making me want to read it again - I haven't read it in years! Thanks!

Now that was a battle! The refining was amazing. There wasn't much human left of ol' Tom Riddle. Hagrid was right about that so many years before.
I like the exchange between Ginny and the ghosts in Harry's life, especially the final farewell from Casey and her family. *sniff*
Ginny called him back from the abyss again, didn't she? She has a way about that.
I hope Ron's okay. I expect Harry to drag himself out of that bed and go heal him so he doesn't lose his leg.
I hope Remus pulls through. Tonks needs her hubby now that a little Tonkslet is on the way.
Good job.
Abraxan replied:
Glad you liked the battle and the refining! Yeah, there wasn't much left of ol' Tom. Glad you liked the part between Ginny and the ghosts too. I kept telling people Casey was gone but not forgotten! Now you know what I meant! She has a part in my original novels too, since she got such a strong reader reaction in this story.

Imperiused. Tortured. Murdered. Even a prat like Percy doesn't deserve that.
Poor Hermione. She's an orphan just like Harry, but she has a new family just like Harry too.
George will pull through, it looks like. Good. He and Fred are going to be valuable.
Huzzah for Tonks and Remus! Teddy's on the way!
It's time. I have chills.
(sob)
Are the tees still available (it's been a while)? Do they come in 3x or 4x? if they are? They're so cool!
Abraxan replied:
I may have a 3 x or 4x t-shirt left, I'll have to check. I do have some t's left, and I can make more but they'd be a special order, so they'd be more expensive.
Glad you enjoyed the chapter!

When are adults going to learn to stop underestimating Harry and Ron...and Hermione and Ginny, for that matter? Morons. And Percy! What did he stand to gain by falsifying official records? Did he glamourise a Dark Mark while the others were under scrutiny? Okay, maybe that might be going a bit too far...
I'm loving this story. Good job.

A season of joy for our heroes! They've earned a little happiness--but this is just a calm before a very ugly storm, isn't it?
It's interesting that they've signed with a team that appears to be made up of all Gryffindors. They don't know they've signed the heir, though, do they?
Speaking of the Heir of Gryffindor: I love the Chamber of Knowledge. The portraits are interesting. Father and son forever 17 hanging on that wall...like the brothers neither of them had. (sniff)
Well done.
Abraxan replied:
Yeah, I thought it was pretty poignant that Harry and James' portraits are together and forever 17 - like brothers, as you said. Glad you like the Chamber! I thought if Slytherin had one, why not Gryffindor??? And no, the team doesn't know they've signed the Heir - they just think they've signed a very talented Seeker! And them all being Gryffindors is actually coincidence, but perhaps it's also an unconscious choice on the part of those in charge. We'll never know!

Okay, there were some problems at the other site, so I did some banging around and found it here--at YOUR site. I couldn't review there.
First, let me say that this story is FANTASTIC. You had me laughing, crying, seething, all of that, but not at once. I'd explode.
When Molly went off at Christmas, I bawled--literally. My heart broke for Harry and Ginny. I couldn't believe she did that! That could've KILLED him. I was so PO'd at her, I wanted to strangle her.
Kudos to Arthur and the boys, though. She was wrong and they let her know it in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS. When Dumbledore got after her--OY VAY. I thought he was going to curse her instead of just silence her. I thought the woman had lost her mind.
The tourney was wonderful. Yay, Neville! Woo hoo! I thought the Trevor/Rupert Longbottom thing was just plain CUTE. Do not piss off Augusta Longbottom. And then the old goat flirted with Hermione! Hysterical!
Harry's disappearance after the Pensieve thing scared me, even though I knew he'd be all right, being with Merlin and all. I kind of thought Merlin had taken him to the phoenixes' special place to "fix" him. I'm glad they could.
The attack on Harry really scared me. Of course, I knew he'd pull out of it, but it was horrific all the same. That poor boy. I'm just glad it didn't send him to the edge again. I thought sure Ginny was going to have to shag him right there in the hospital wing to bring him around!
Draco Malfoy--jackass extraordinare. He set those boys on Harry. When is that git going to learn? When is freaking Zabini going to learn? They don't have the power nor the resources to do Harry in. He's too powerful and has too many devoted and loyal friends. When are they going to finally get it through their thick heads that LOVE CONQUERS ALL?
Now...the love scene in the lake. THAT was cool! Made me jealous. It was really beautifully written. This whole story is. Anyway...back to it, then.

Abraxan replied:
You know, I had a really good time writing that stuff about Molly going off on Harry - I think it's very true to her character and she's a GOOD MOTHER, she really is. But sometimes (like many of us mothers), she has her blinders on and can't recognize that her children are adults, perhaps despite not being adults in age. Over the years, I've known several young people who were more mature as teenagers than most adults - my daughter was one. Thankfully, she never put me in the position Ginny's put Molly in with a serious boyfriend when she was too young to be that serious! Right now, I'm friends with two young men who are far more mature than their years - and yet the impish little boy shows up at times too, which is so much fun. I really love knowing them - they're such fun, and yet wise and intelligent and truly good people. Both are only children, which I think helped make them more mature than other people their ages.
I'm glad you didn't feel all those emotions at once and explode!!!! I'd be sad to have splatters of GhostChicken all over the place here!!!! heehee.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the Trevor/Rupert thing! I had SO much fun with that, and most readers enjoyed it - some gave me a bit of a hard time about it, but that's just their problem. I sat here and laughed out loud when I thought of it and I had a blast writing it!
Ginny shagging Harry in the hospital wing would certainly go a long way toward getting him out of there quickly, wouldn't it? LOL! I'm glad you enjoyed all that stuff!
that love scene in the lake made me jealous too - I would SO love to be able to grow gills like that!!! Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the fun reviews!
