Excellent chapter, Its nice to see that they all still have human emotions. they've been though a lot

Abraxan replied:

Thanks! Yes, and they're all quite relieved to have the great shadow over their lives gone. It will take them a while to adjust to their new reality, but I expect they're looking forward to it!

Ch.31 - - The after math of a realistic battle is always so heartrending. Too many die, too many badly hurt, too many scar mentally much more than physically.

Very realistically written.

Thanks very much for a very thoughtful review!

Engaded!! I'm so happy! You are amazing, I swear.

This chapter is wonderful. Good to see Harry up and about again, even if he is confined to the wheelchair. But even so, he's improving. I was so realieved that Ron's leg was going to heal most of the way. At least we won't have two Moody's, eh?

Hermione is so strong. But she'll be okay eventually, with so many people who love her.

DUMBLEDORE! Oh, he has always struck me as related to Harry. Although, that part is perhaps the least probable bit in the whole story but in a very good way. It's one of the things that would never happen in the book but yet you manage to make evrything fit perfectly into place without any trace of wrongness. A true mark of the talented writer. Although, him marrying is an image that's hard to conjure. *laughs* But all the same.

So wonderful to see everyone recovering from their respective horrors together. LOVE. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Abraxan replied:

Thanks so much! You think it's hard to imagine Dumbledore married???? Oh my, in his day, he would have been Fred, George and Harry all rolled into one! He had auburn hair, according to canon, and those twinkling blue eyes, a great sense of style and charm up the wazoo as well as a tremendous sense of humor! He would have had girls trailing after him when he was in school. You having trouble imagining him as being married just shows you must be very young! He may be 150 years old now, but back in the day -- he was COOL! And tall, and funny and charming, and probably handsome as well (not Film!Dumbledore, but Book!Dumbledore)!! Think about that for a while, and you'll be able to see why he would have been able to have probably any girl he wanted.

Thanks for a nice review!

A very nice chapter. I am glad that you, unlike so many others, take the time to examine the aftermath of the win. Not everyone can come through such a battle unscathed. There needs to be time to heal, time to mourn, etc. You take the time to show that rather than end the story at the defeat of Voldemort with no severe injuries to the good guys and everything coming out sunshine and roses. You're handling it exceptionally well. Keep up the good work and, as always, I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

Abraxan replied:

THanks very much! I can't imagine NOT exploring the aftermath of the battle - that's part of what shows the "heart" of Harry and his friends, the way they handle the stresses they've been under, and the continuing stresses of healing from their injuries, dealing with grief (and probably some guilt, knowing these kids) over those who died, etc. I think those who don't explore that aspect of the saga are missing out on some of the richest emotional scenes available. Their loss! I like pulling all the threads of the story together into a coherent ending, with everything as neatly and logically "tied up" as I can manage. I think that's the only way to have a "satisfying" end to such a story.

Thanks so much for your thoughtful review!

hey guys! great chapter again! i am not bias when it comes to stories but this is the best fan fiction story i have read. it has had everything. i hope you write some more stories regarding the future. it should be fun

Abraxan replied:

The epilog is a seedbed for short stories I may write in the future about Harry & Co's post-Hogwarts years. But I have my original novel to work on first, so don't hold your breath! But if I get stuck and need to spend time away from the novel, I can knock out a Harry story in a very short time now (NOT a HP novel like these -- just a short story like the Christmas story).

I'm glad you're enjoying my fic!

Grand Albus, Grand Nagus, what's the difference?
*snorts*
Great chapter, as usual. Fluff is always good, unless it's too wet.

So yeah, I'm not saying anything here, except that I love your writing, but I think I've said so before. So I'll shut up now and quit rambling.

Abraxan replied:

What's a "Nagus"?? I'm lost! Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Thanks for your kind words about my writing, too!

Woah.. that chapter was filled with so many things. Excellent work as usual. I think it's great that harry as found a ''familly'' even thought he had one already in the Weasleys that wasn't the same. I nearly cried, (if I wasn't in my office reading this I would have!!) Adn Harry and Ginny that was sooo good to see him this happy it really warmed my heart!
Hope Harry is weel soon so he'll be able to get back to his friends. I have to be honnest and say I really don't want this story to end. You are so good at what you do I bet you'll have no problem at all with your book. You are Marvelous!!!

Abraxan replied:

Thank you!! WHEN I have time to work on my novel (which is hard to manage right now with trying to get Destiny's final polish done and playing with my new kitten!), it usually flows pretty darned well! I'm very pleased with how it's going so far! Hopefully, I'll find a publisher who finds it equally pleasing!!!! (fingers tightly crossed here. . .)

Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Yeah, I'm already feeling "Harry withdrawal," which isn't something I enjoy. I've really enjoyed writing these stories and will miss spending so much time with Harry and his friends. But there are always short stories I can write when I miss them too much! LOL!

Thanks for a lovely review and your very nicely encouraging words about my work!

Thank you so much for updating so soon. These last 2 chapters were great. I really liked the way Harry defeated Voldemort with the help of his friends and Dumbledore! What a surprise that Dumbledore is Harry's Grandfather! What a great way to intergrate the story and characters. I really like the way you write. Thank you for adding to the Potter Universe! I haven't enjoyed a story this much, ever! It is such a great escape from my day to day drugery. I look forward to your next update. Thank you for writing.

Abraxan replied:

I update every week without fail unless I'm out of town with no internet access. If I KNOW I'll be out of town with no internet access, I do my best to get the chapter to Asad (who uploads the fic here, on my Yahoo site, and on the SIYE site) early so he can take care of it for me.

I'm so glad you liked how Harry defeated Voldemort and that Harry is Dumbledore's grandson! Yes, one of my goals was to tie up all the loose ends created by both JKR and my own stories, and Dumbledore's relationship with Harry felt like a loose end to me -- so they HAD to be related! ;-D Thanks for your kind words about my writing!

Excellent chapter! Having Dumbledore admit to Harry that he was his great great Grandfather was a surprise. What will be happening to Snape? That was must have been quite a shock for him to wake up in the Morgue!

Abraxan replied:

Glad you liked that surprise revelation! (Harry and Dumbledore's relationship) I can't tell you what's going to happen to Snape -- you'll just have to keep reading! I promise, it's pretty interesting! At least, I think so! LOL! Yeah, can you imagine him waking up in the morgue? And can you imagine how those morgue workers felt, having just been bad-mouthing him, and then he LOOKS at them?! YIKES! LOL! Thanks for writing!

GET BETTER HARRY!! As much as I know the need of this, I despise hospitals. They always smell funny in my opinion.

Abraxan replied:

Yeah, and for good reason (the smell)! I'll pass your good wishes along to Harry! :-D

A minor PS to that last bit. I'm going to be very interested in hearing just what did happen to Snape and how Malfoy messed up what appears to be a fairly straight-forward spell.

Abraxan replied:

To YOU it may appear to be a fairly straight-forward spell, but it's actually a complex one -- not everyone can cast them (thank goodness!). Remember Bellatrix saying in the Ministry of Magic (in OoP) that Harry didn't have it in him to cast a Cruciatus Curse. Malfoy has the rage, the hatred, the mean-spirtedness and whatever else it takes to cast a Killing Curse, but he's never been shown to be truly skilled at hexing people except by sneaky means. And he's hexing his Head of House, who's SUPPOSED to be on Voldemort's side! Just imagine the thoughts raging through Malfoy's mind -- "The Dark Lord will thank me for killing this turncoat!" "The Dark Lord will kill me for killing his Potions Master!" etc. It's that lack of focus that caused the Killing Curse to malfunction. I don't go into this in the story much at all, hence my lengthy explanation here. Hope this makes sense to you!

A very nice respite from the last chapter, though I've no doubt that further trials await. Harry alone like that is just too obvious a target for the ill-intentioned.

I loved the dream sequence at the start and the proposal. Dumbledore's admission was a surprise, but a most plausible scenario.

*wicked grin* Why do I have the impression that Ron and Hermione have a few more trials of their own yet to go through?

Thanks for a good read.

Abraxan replied:

Well, poor Harry -- everyone but him sees that it's dangerous for him to be alone!!

Glad you enjoyed the dream sequence - that was fun to write! And the proposal -- I could just see Mad-Eye relishing that "dangerous mission" and the twinkle in his eye as he agreed to it. Glad you liked that, and Dumbledore's admission as well! Glad, too, that you found his admission plausible!!

Ron, Hermione, Harry and Ginny ALL still have some trials awaiting them! After all, I still have three chapters to go, plus a two-part epilog - I certainly wouldn't write THAT much fluff, and the character development is complete now! LOL! Thanks for the nice review!

Yay! Perfect chapter. Even if it took me about five days to read. (I'm grounded from using the compy at home and can only use it before school...) I'm so thrilled!
*dances around in an unholy fashion*
Tommy boy is de-ad, Tommy boy is de-ad!

LOL! How do you dance around in an unholy fashion?? Never mind, it would probably embarrass me to know! heehee. Glad you enjoyed the chapter! Try not to get grounded from the puter again!!

Nice to hear from you again!

Wow, thats about the only word I could use to sum up all that happened in this chapter. I went from shouting at the computer screen for Dumbledore to leave the battle between Harry and Voldemort so he wouldn't die to tearing up when Harry went to the 'between' period. That was a very emotional chapter. You are such a great writer and everyone saying that doesn't even do you justice. I know JKR created this world for us but you have come in and expanded on it in so many ways, so many great ways. I would love to read more of your work if you ever start writing novels. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for the next chapter....maybe you can do another story showing that quidditch team they are about to assemble. lol. ~Trey

Abraxan replied:

I HAVE started an original novel. I'll post ordering information on all the sites that host my stories WHEN (not *if* -- thinking positively here!) it's published!

There are 4 more chapters of Destiny and a two-part epilogue, so you still hve lots of reading to do! I'm so glad you're enjoying the fic! Thanks very much for your lovely review!

Awwwww....

Awesome ending! Loved it! Excellent story from start to finish!

{Shifty eyes}

Do we get an epilogue?

Abraxan replied:

THere are four more chapters in Destiny, PLUS a two-part epilogue! Stay tuned! Glad you liked the chapter! And this story is NOT finished!! Those four chapters have lots of "stuff" in them! ;->

I was quite impressed with your battle sequence, and the end of Voldemort. The description of his body was a nice touch, as well. The rest of the chapter was a bit blurry from tears welling up, though.

Abraxan replied:

What a lovely review! THanks a lot! Try reading the chapter again once you've gotten past the tears -- maybe you'll be able to read it better then! Thanks for writing!

huh... old enough to kill but not to have sex? Bah go figure parents!
Oh one thing thow why didnt they just suffocate old Voldy with the spheres ? much more simple no?

Abraxan replied:

Suffocating him would not have destroyed the evil in him. Someone could have taken a body part or a sample of tissues and possibly cloned him. The evil needed to be refined out of his body, leaving only the wasted shell of Tom Riddle, and then Riddle would die, because so much of his body had been maintained by evil magic for so long.

Yup, go figure parents!! LOL!
